Daily Scoop Extra: GOP Congressman presses mistress to get abortion

In another example of the “Do as I say, not as I do” hypocritical, moral authority, anti-choice Republican Party a Tennessee member of the House of Representatives is caught trying to persuade his pregnant mistress to have an abortion to save his marriage.

WASHINGTON — A pro-life, family-values congressman who worked as a doctor before winning election as a Tea Party-backed Republican had an affair with a patient and later pressured her to get an abortion, according to a phone call transcript obtained by The Huffington Post.

The congressman, Rep. Scott DesJarlais of Tennessee, was trying to save his marriage at the time, according to his remarks on the call, made in September of 2000. And, according to three independent sources familiar with the call and the recording, he made the tape himself.

Daily Scoop: Mitt’s flip-flopping knows no bounds

In Mitt Romney’s attempts to appeal to swing voters he displays his unending strategy to say anything to win the presidency.

CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio—With less than a month to go before Election Day, Mitt Romney faces a choice between whipping up the support of his conservative base or appealing to swing voters who could be persuaded to back his bid for the presidency.

In recent days, Romney has chosen to focus on the latter, pushing a more centrist message on the campaign trail. His latest turn came Tuesday when he told the editorial board of the Des Moines Register that he has no plans to push for legislation limiting abortion.

“There’s no legislation with regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would become part of my agenda,” Romney told the Register.
